Save Up to 30% on Disney Gift Cards: The Ultimate Hack!
Hello, dear readers! Gift cards are a popular way to save on all things Disney within the fandom community, but only some know how to utilize them the best! However, now that can be you, too. 😉 Here are my step-by-step instructions on how to save up to 30% on Disney gift cards (and how you can hack the system in general!). The best part is that you can use them for almost everything Disney-related, including park tickets, hotel stays, cruise lines, food, merchandise, and even your Disney+ subscription!

Step One: Estimate How Much Money You’ll Need
This first step mainly applies to people using gift cards to pay for their Disney vacations, so you can skip this section if you’re buying the gift card as a present for someone. For vacation planners, think of everything you’ll need to purchase, including park tickets, food, possible hotel stay, souvenirs, etc., and come up with a total estimated cost.
Step Two: Decide If You Want a Physical or Digital Card
This is also more of a step for vacation planners because you may want to buy a virtual card and sync it to your Apple Watch for the convenience factor. I prefer to buy the physical cards in case there are tech issues at the park (which happens occasionally), and then I can swipe away and not worry about my gift card number not working.
Step Three: Purchase Discounted Cards
Next, you’ll want to buy the gift cards when they’re on sale. Costco and Sam’s Club occasionally offer Disney gift card sales online, so set an alert if you have a membership.
My favorite way to purchase them is at Target. If you have a Target Circle Red Card (which comes in debit and credit card form), you’ll automatically get 5% off your purchase, but that’s not all! It also helps to check your personalized Circle Bonuses because sometimes you’ll receive a “Spend _ and get _ back in Target Circle Rewards” deal. If you accept the offer, that’s an overall discount of up to 30% because the discounts overlap! Think about it: if you combine the cost of park tickets, hotel, and dining fees, that 5 – 30% goes a long way!

Step Four: Merge Your Cards
Assuming you purchased physical cards, go to DisneyGiftCard.com and merge them all onto one card (you can merge up to five cards at once). That way, you won’t have to deal with the hassle of keeping track of which one has money. Mark the main card (like adding a star with a permanent marker or something) to know which one you’ll be using, and save a second physical card in case you lose the main one. You can always return online and transfer your balance to the second card. Please note that the DisneyGiftCard site is NOT a digital wallet, so you must show proof of your gift card, whether digital or physical, at every purchase.
Step Five: Start Paying for Your Vacation (or Whatever You Plan to Use the Gift Card For)
Now, you can pay for your vacation at a discounted rate! Some people start buying their gift cards up to a year in advance so that they can save for up for their Disney trips. Others will give smaller gift cards to their kids to help them learn how to budget their money when buying souvenirs at the parks.
Have you ever tried to hack the Disney gift card system? What’s your favorite way to save on Disney expenses?
