10 Disney Summer Packing Essentials to Beat the Heat
Summer’s practically in full swing, and it’s not even June yet! We even had 80-degree weather last month, which leads me to believe that we’ve got a very hot season coming up 🥵 And what’s the one thing that can easily ruin your Disney vacation? Not being prepared for the heat! Now, I may not be a fan of the constant overconsumption content we see on social media, but I also think it’s a waste to spend your vacation feeling like a sweaty, disgusting mess, and these 10 Disney summer packing essentials will make ALL the difference:
1. Breathable Shirts
I’m all for form-fitting clothing, but at Disney, they’re your worst enemy. Breathable shirts are the best, and these come in many different colors, so you can still work them into your Disney-bound outfit.
2. Moisture-Wicking Shorts
Similarly, you’ll also be comfier in moisture-wicking shorts, not just for when you’re on water rides but also because the humidity alone will make you feel like you’ve been hanging out in a swamp all day.
3. Insulated Water Bottles
Collapsable water bottles have been the trend recently at Disney parks, but I like to prioritize insulated bottles that will keep my water icy cold all day. These 18 oz. Yeti bottles are my favorite because they’re small enough to fit into a mini backpack, so they go with me everywhere I travel.
4. Liquid IV
I swear this stuff is like magic! I add sugar-free Liquid IV to my water bottle on my strenuous workout days, and I’m convinced they keep me cooler. They even seem to help me survive those heated workout classes, so they’re another must-have on hot Disney days when I need the extra support.
5. Neck Fans
I’ve had a corded neck fan for years that hasn’t failed me yet, but these circular neck fans seem to be all the rage these days. A portable fan is an absolute MUST, whether for your neck or something you can attach to a stroller.
6. Cooling Towels
Neck fans will keep you sane throughout the day, but you know what’s the most refreshing afternoon treat (besides a Dole Whip, of course)? Cooling towels! You can wet these in the bathroom sink and wear them around your neck for some serious relief when the midway humidity gets to be too much.
7. Sun Hats
UV-blocking straw hats are my favorite because I tend to get less sweaty in them, but if you want a Disney-esque look, this ear hat will at least keep the sun out of your eyes. You can even attach magnetic ears to your hat of choice!
8. Sunglasses
I live in a state where the sun pretty much always shines, so sunglasses are a daily need. However, it’s generally not recommended to bring your more expensive sunglasses on a Disney vacation because they’re so easy to lose on rides, so I love these vintage-style shades that are also affordable.
9. Sunblock
This is probably obvious, but getting a sunburn is a fast way to spoil your vacation. I prefer spray sunscreens because not only are they faster to apply, they also feel nice and cool on your skin, too.
10. Shower Wipes
And in case you’re concerned about smelling stinky after a long day of sweating, these convenient little shower wipes are a lifesaver. They’ll have you smelling fresh as a daisy in no time!
