14 Feel-Good Disney Movies & Shows to Binge This Fall

I don’t know how it happened, but it feels like I blinked and suddenly found myself in the last quarter of the year but of course, that’s what all adults say as we get older. Even though I am a summer girlie through and through, lately I’ve been enjoying the smell of the dewy morning air (that delightful chilly air smell when the weather changes) and am ready to embrace the new season, so as such, here’s my list of 14 feel-good Disney movies & shows to binge this Fall. The news and media have been rather heavy lately, and we could all benefit from disconnecting and immersing ourselves in some comforting content instead.

Just FYI: You may notice that I don’t mention Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown in this list, not because I’m not a fan of them; they are both a MUST WATCH in my house, but they already get enough of the spotlight this time of the year, so I figured it wasn’t necessary.

1. Remember the Titans

While I may not follow football as religiously as my fellow Americans, there’s something about the sound of NFL theme songs that instantly fills me with warmth and fuzziness, which is why I made sure to feature Remember the Titans on this list. It’s an all-around great film and easily the kind of movie that you can watch with your entire family, even if you couldn’t care less about the sport!

2. So Weird

So Weird technically takes place in all seasons, but nearly every episode has a rainy/overcast-y vibe. More importantly, it’s one of the best shows ever featured on the Disney Channel and doesn’t get enough appreciation. If you love learning about the supernatural world and afterlife theories, you’ll enjoy following Fi and the gang as they debunk mysteries while traveling across the country.

3. The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Had to mention this one because it inspired one of the opening day rides at Disneyland! The actual two-part anthology is less spooky than the ride, and the second half follows the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, making it the perfect thing to watch in October.

4. Boy Meets World

I can’t make a cozy show and movie blog without mentioning at least one family sitcom. Boy Meets World is a show that I have a love-hate relationship with, as it features some really bizarre life lessons on love that I don’t necessarily agree with, and the continuity overall is quite poor. Still, it does embody that comforting ‘feels-like-my-fake-tv-family’ feel, and it’s filled with school kid antics that make for the perfect binge session for this time of year.

5. The Torkelsons

Please tell me I’m not the only person who remembers this show! The Torkelsons (later renamed “Almost Home” during the spin-off) is another Michael Jacobs show (he was the creator of Boy Meets World), and in my opinion, the better one. It’s one of, if not the only, family sitcom that’s actually relatable for those who grew up in a low-income family, and some of the episodes will make you tear up just as much as they’ll make you laugh.

Not to mention you’ll get plenty of autumn-themed episodes, including my favorite one where Dorothy Jane attends her first Fall Cotillion!

6. Into the Woods

If you love musicals, don’t sleep on this gem! Into the Woods is a charming tale about all your favorite classic storybook characters (think Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc.) coming together for one big mashup, and the music and talent are top-notch. This would be perfect for a November movie night when you’re still waiting for that (American) Thanksgiving feast, but it’s almost getting cold enough to feel like Winter.

7. Lizzie McGuire

Lizzie McGuire is likely the funniest Disney Channel show ever (the show, not the movie; I actually dislike the movie, but we’ll discuss that another time). It doesn’t have to rely on a laugh track (which too many modern-day family shows do), and yet the comedy is gold. It’s filled with back-to-school vibes and cute sweaters, so add it to your September watch list.

8. Coco

Pixar rarely misses, and Coco might be one of the most beautiful films they’ve ever made. Between the celebration of Día de Muertos (the Day of the Dead), emotional tunes, and unexpected plot twists, this one’s sure to be one of your faves if you haven’t seen it already!

9. Going to the Mat

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the sillier DCOMs (also known as Disney Channel Original Movies). Still, I love Going to the Mat because it has a deeper storyline about a blind high school student who becomes a successful wrestler and learns to self-reflect and grow as a person in the process … Plus, it’ll make you want to jump into a pile of autumn leaves, too.

10. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

This one’s obviously for the younger crowd, but who doesn’t get the urge to snuggle up in a blanket with a cup of tea when they see Pooh and the gang? This show features numerous autumnal and Thanksgiving-themed elements and is a lovely selection if you’re like me and enjoy having something on in the background while you catch up on chores. It’s also a great distraction for my cat, Penny, who needs external stimulation at all times.

11. Phantom of the Megaplex

Going to the movies is still one of my favorite things to do, so I loved that this DCOM has turned the event into a (kinda) horror movie. I say ‘kinda’ because it’s the Disney Channel, so the level of scariness is almost nonexistent, but it’s a fun pre-Halloween flick that’s enjoyable for all ages.

12. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place

I’ve never actually seen the original Wizards of Waverly Place. Still, I randomly began watching the reboot while passing out candy last Halloween and ended up watching all of the episodes in one sitting! If you’re a Harry Potter fan or need something light-hearted to binge during this time of the year, this show’s perfect.

13. Muppets Haunted Mansion

This is almost blasphemous to say as a Disney Parks fan, but I’ve never seen the big deal about the Haunted Mansion *ducks from flying tomatoes.* Like, I’ll happily go on it if my friends want to, but it’s not really a ride that I seek out on my own. However, I do enjoy the song Grim Grinning Ghosts (it has a permanent place on my Halloween playlist) and I’m also a fan of the Muppets, so if you enjoy goofy, meta content that doesn’t take itself too seriously or if you’re a former Gleek who fangirled over Darren Criss, this one is a must-watch!

14. Zombies

And finally, Zombies! This movie came out way after I stopped watching the Disney Channel via cable. Still, I remember being blown away by the production value when I finally did watch it (because back in my day, DCOMs were as low-budget as they come … we also had to walk 15 miles to watch them on the nearest TV, jk jk!). But seriously, Zombies is a really cute movie featuring zombie students who are finally allowed to attend their local high school, and the music and dancing are ELITE. I promise you won’t be disappointed by this one!
